The salary range represents the minimum and maximum salary for the position. Employees are usually hired between the minimum and mid-point of the salary range.

The Opportunity
The Early Childhood Educator Floater is responsible for creating a caring and nurturing environment that protects the wellbeing of all participants of the BCITSA Childcare Centre. The Early Childhood Educator Floater provides individualized care by leading and assisting children in all activities. This position applies the ECEBC Code of Ethics to their practice in areas of teaching and learning, and in the development of guidance strategies. The Early Childhood Educator Floater incorporates BCITSA’s equity, diversity and inclusion values into their work and professional relationships.\
What You Will Do:
Care and Observation
- Maintain a safe environment for each child by knowing and responding to their individual needs. This includes assisting with managing allergies and knowing how to treat them Ensure daily activities meet all licensing requirements and are conducted as per BCITSA policies and procedures
- Demonstrate positive child guidance strategies according to the BCITSA Childcare Centre guidance policy
- Customize all interactions and activities using inclusive practices and by learning the individual needs of each child.
- Employ the BC Early Learning Framework and the ECEBC Code of Ethics to support healthy development
- Recognize and address the signs and symptoms of anxiety in children in collaboration with the broader Childcare team
Operational duties
- Promote and support parents/guardians as primary caregivers
- Cover shifts and breaks of Early Childhood Educators in all centers
- Perform laundering duties
- Clean all work areas, equipment and surfaces
- Perform opening and closing duties as required
- Ensure all toys, furniture, and equipment are in good condition and cleaned regularly
- Ensure outdoor areas are kept organized and inspected for hazards
- Support the growth journey by modeling table manners, and allowing them to independently perform daily tasks
- Participate and use a collaborative team approach throughout the daily schedule, including activities, programs, transitions and routines
- Supervise children during outdoor activities
- Maintain confidentiality of student and family information in accordance with organizational policies and privacy regulations

You are a flexible individual who understands the need to adapt to constantly shifting circumstances to ensure a nurturing and supportive atmosphere. You are eager to learn various styles of childcare strategies in a classroom setting. You show initiative to present solutions to concerns as they arise. You have demonstrated strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with others, share ideas, and contribute to a positive and harmonious childcare environment. As a continuous learner, you will capture all learning opportunities to broaden your knowledge. You are passionate to work with young children and provide them a fun experience.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- An active Early Childhood Educator license is required
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and theories in the Early Childcare Education
KNOWELDGE & ABILITIES
- Microsoft 365
- Knowledge of Early Learning Framework
- Continuously grow in handling challenging behaviors
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current ECEBC Code of Ethics
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
REQUIREMENTS
- Be able to lift up to 11kg (25lbs), bend, crouch, climb, stand, walk and carry
- Criminal record check must be passed every 5 years or less as employment continues
- Valid First Aid Certificate is required throughout employment
