About DevCom Homes
DevCom Homes is a vertically integrated developer and builder licensed through the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) and backed by Tarion warranty. We build purpose-built rental and residential communities across Southern Georgian Bay. Small team, consistent work, no drama.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced builder who's ready to step into a leadership role. Foreman experience isn't required. What is required is real, hands-on construction experience and the kind of character that earns respect on a job site. If you know how to build, work well with people, and take ownership of your work, we'll develop the rest.
This is a working-foreman position. You're not managing from the sideline, you're on the tools when the site needs it, leading by example, and making sure the day runs the way it's supposed to. The right candidate will go through a structured 6-month development period, working closely alongside our site leadership to learn how DevCom runs its sites before taking the reins independently.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the on-site crew and directing daily tasks through morning toolbox talks and hands-on supervision
- Working alongside the crew. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role
- Executing the build to plans and specifications; performing field measurements and layout
- Conducting daily safety checks and enforcing OHSA, PPE, and site protocols
- Inspecting work at every stage and catching deficiencies before they compound
- Receiving, verifying, and staging materials; flagging shortages before they slow the job
- Maintaining daily logs, site photos, and labour hour tracking
- Reporting progress and flagging issues to the Site Supervisor
- Keeping the site clean, organized, and secure
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on residential construction experience — this is non-negotiable
- Strong working knowledge of core build skills: footings, ICF, framing, and exterior finishes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (Part 9) and OHSA
- A trade ticket (e.g., carpentry) is an asset, not a requirement
- Strong communication and the ability to direct a crew with confidence and respect
- Reliable transportation to job sites in the Collingwood area
What We Don't Need
You don't need a foreman title on your resume. If you've been the go-to person on a crew, the one people turn to when something needs to get done right, and you're ready for more responsibility, we want to hear from you. We'll invest in developing your leadership skills. We need someone who already knows how to build.
