About the Role
sparkAV is looking for a detail-oriented, passionate and energetic AV Systems Designer to join our team. Reporting to Sr. Innovation & Design Specialist, you will also work collaboratively with our Sales team to design, develop and integrage advanced audiovisual solutions that meet the needs of a variety of commercial and institutional projects and opportunities of varying sizes and scopes. . Your expertise will help create seamless, reliable AV solutions that enhance communication, collaboration, and user experience so that our clients will choose to work with sparkAV. You will also interface with the sparkAV Projects Team to help ensure that what was designed comes to life and is handed over delivering to functionality and performance expected. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to projects that make a real impact in diverse environments.
What You Will Do
- Support the Sales Team as requested for any Projects, Bids and/or Tenders that are being pursued.
- Attend Information Discovery and Needs Analysis Sessions for customers along with the Sales Team.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineering teams to develop comprehensive AV system designs aligned with project specifications and client needs.
- Generate functional and connectivity (line) drawings (using AutoCAD) for audio, video, control, communications, etc.
- Create visuals that help validate the products in solutions, such as Heat-Maps, EASE Drawings, Site-Lines, etc.
- Cultivate the Bill of Materials (BOM) needed for the solutions designed.
- Prepare accurate soft costs Estimates for the labour, configuration, programming, commissioning, for any Projects, Bids and/or Tenders that are being pursued.
- Create Scope of Work documents for any Projects, Bids and/or Tenders that are being pursued.
- Attend Sites and/or Construction Meetings if Required duringthe integration of AV solutions to support the delivery of the project. This may require taking direction from the Project Manager.
- Provide Design Support if Required to installation technicians, project managers and/or programmers.
- Keep Current with new products and solutions, achieving manufacturers’ training and certification.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma
- At least 3 years of Design experience in Professional Audio-Visual Solutions and/or Unified Communications with a strong understanding of productsfrom Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, AMX, Biamp, Shure, Yealink, Neat, Logitech, HP/Poly, etc. including how they work and connect as well as holding relevant certifications issued by these manufacturers and others.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
- Proficiency with different EASE software variations, and/ or similar heatmapping software, for calculating effective audio coverage for many different types of speakers.
- Previous experience in Solution-based sales within the ProAV, Unified Communications (UC), or ICAT industries, with a very strong knowledge of how to design and implement solutions that run Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, and Cisco WebEx.
- AVIXA CTS / CTS-D / CTS-I, ANP, Microsoft 721, MS 700 certification is preferred (or willingness to earn post-hire is required).
- Knowledge of performance lighting systems is an asset.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, and related business tools.
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn ERP systems such as Jetbuilt and SmartSheet.
- Excellent fluency in English (written and spoken) with bilingualism English/French being an asset.

- Location: 672 Dupont Street, Suite 410, Toronto, ON M6G 1Z6 (Sales & Administration) and 151 Brunel Road. Unit 18, Mississauga ON L4Z 2H6 (Logistics & Staging)
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (hours may vary based on project deliverables)
- Travel: Within the GTA as required; to attend project sites, training, trade shows, and industry events, etc.
- Salary Range: 70,000 – 90,000 commensurate with experience
