About The Role:As a packaging supervisor's role is to oversee the packaging process, ensuring products are packed safely, efficiently, and meet quality standards. This involves managing a team of packers, coordinating schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines, and bridging the gap between management and the packaging line. Key duties include training staff, maintaining machinery, managing inventory of packaging materials, and liaising with other departments to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for shift planning which includes team member work assignments, training, vacation, overtime and backing up team members
- Coordinating start up meetings and shift shutdowns and changeovers
- Attaining shift production goals
- Working within and supporting standard operating procedures
- Responsible for quality control and making adjustments within the shift to ensure products are manufactured within specification
- Participating on continuous improvement teams
- Providing leadership and direction to team members while also seeking to empower them
- Ensure team members are trained sufficiently
- Ensure all team members follow the company health and safety standards as well as the requirements of the Occupational health and safety act as it applies to the manufacturing sector
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Secondary education or relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a supervisor or team lead overseeing team members in a manufacturing environment
- Able to work shift work
- Experience with Lean principles is desirable
- Experience and knowledge of Health and Safety Standards
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and experience with high volume production machinery
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Dedication to team success, morale, safety, quality and customer satisfaction
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a production setting.
- The noise level can be loud, and temperatures fluctuate depending on the season.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend overtime may be required
- Must be available to work all shifts as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
