BeeCraft Supply & Studio is a welcoming community hub dedicated to inspiring creativity while supporting pollinators and sustainable beekeeping. We offer educational workshops, locally produced honey, beekeeping supplies, handcrafted products, and community events throughout Durham Region.
Position Summary
BeeCraft is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Market & Apiary Assistant to support our weekly farmers' markets, retail operations, and beekeeping activities. This hands-on role is ideal for a student interested in agriculture, environmental stewardship, community engagement, entrepreneurship, or small business operations.
No previous beekeeping experience is required—we are happy to provide training.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist with:
- Setting up and taking down market displays and booths in Scarborough and Ajax
- Assisting customers at farmers' markets and community events
- Processing sales using a point-of-sale system
- Restocking merchandise and maintaining attractive product displays
- Packaging honey, candles, and other BeeCraft products
- Preparing workshop materials and supplies
- Assisting with basic beekeeping tasks under supervision, including hive inspections, equipment preparation, honey harvesting, and seasonal apiary maintenance
- Cleaning and organizing the studio, retail space, and equipment
- Supporting inventory management
- Assisting with social media content by taking photos or videos during markets and apiary activities
- Performing other duties that support daily business operations
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Is dependable, positive, and eager to learn
- Enjoys working both indoors and outdoors
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Can work independently as well as part of a small team
- Is able to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs)
- Is comfortable working around honey bees (training and protective equipment provided)
- Has an interest in environmental sustainability, agriculture, gardening, or creative arts
- Has access to reliable transportation to markets and the BeeCraft studio
