Wilson Plumbing Service Inc. is a mechanical and electrical contractor specializing in mid-rise, commercial, hospitality and high-rise construction across southwestern Ontario. We operate both a plumbing division and an HVAC division, supported by our fabrication shop in Mount Forest.
We are actively expanding our in-house prefabrication capability as part of a broader shift toward model-driven project delivery. Using 3D scanning and BIM coordination, our technical team will produce exact fabrication drawings from confirmed field dimensions. Those drawings come to the shop, and what gets built here is what gets installed - pre-cut pipe assemblies, labeled spools, sheet metal components, and suite-specific packages ready to go directly to the floor.
This approach demands a higher standard of shop production than traditional mechanical contracting, and we are adding to our team to meet that standard.
The role
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Mount Forest shop. You will work across both the plumbing and HVAC divisions, fabricating pipe assemblies and sheet metal components from spool drawings and cut lists issued by our coordination team.
The shop is well-equipped and the work spans a full range of fabrication processes - from plasma cutting and press brake work on the sheet metal side, to threading, grooving, pressing, and welding on the pipe side. We are looking for someone who is comfortable across these processes, takes pride in accurate and consistent work, and can keep production organized as volume increases.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate pipe assemblies and spools from issued spool drawings and cut lists - threading, grooving, pressing, and welding as required
- Fabricate sheet metal components and ductwork assemblies for the HVAC division using the plasma cutting table, press brake, and hand tools
- Read and interpret spool drawings, isometrics, and sheet metal shop drawings - verify dimensions and flag discrepancies before cutting
- Organize, label, and stage completed assemblies by project, floor, and suite for delivery to site
- Operate and take care of shop equipment including the plasma table, press brake, pipe threader, roll groover, and welder
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop at all times
- Communicate with the coordination and project management team on drawing questions and production priorities
Qualifications
We are open to a range of trade and fabrication backgrounds. The following are a strong fit:
- Millwright (433A), Steamfitter/Pipefitter (307A), Sheet Metal Worker (308A), or Plumber (306A) — licensed or apprentice with solid shop experience
- Industrial fabricator or welder with demonstrated experience across both pipe and sheet metal work
- Hands-on experience operating a plasma cutting table and press brake
- Able to read and work from spool drawings, isometrics, and shop drawings accurately
- Experience with pipe threading, roll grooving, and press fitting systems
- Welding experience an asset
- Precise, reliable, and production-focused - able to manage multiple assemblies and keep labeling and sequencing accurate under a busy schedule
What we offer
- Full-time permanent employment with a stable, growing mechanical contractor
- Consistent shop-based hours in Mount Forest, minimal or no site travel required
- A technically evolving role as our prefabrication system develops across both divisions
- Competitive wages based on trade certification and experience
- 4 day work week
