Job Summary
The Finance and Performance Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight of all financial and performance-related functions within DARTS. This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, effective performance management, and alignment with organizational goals. Success in the position requires strong financial acumen, broad functional knowledge of finance and performance management, the ability to ensure strategic alignment with organizational priorities, and a high degree of analytical thinking to support evidence-based decision-making.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Apply financial acumen to oversee all finance and accounting operations, including budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash flow management, and bank reconciliation.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analyses, using analytical thinking to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Maintain systems for collecting, disbursing, controlling, and accounting for funds.
- Ensure payroll compliance with Revenue Canada, union agreements, and legislative requirements.
- Coordinate preparation of year-end working papers for external auditors and monitor the audit process.
- Manage government reporting, benefit remittances, charitable tax filings, and rebate applications.
Performance Oversight
- Provide leadership and supervision to the Quality Assurance Coordinator, Service Quality Supervisor, Payroll Administrator, Accounts Payable Clerk, and Accounts Receivable Clerk.
- Conduct annual evaluations and ongoing coaching for direct reports.
- Implement systems to monitor service quality, operational efficiency, and organizational outcomes, applying analytical thinking to drive improvements.
- Represent the Finance and Performance Department in organizational and stakeholder meetings.
Strategic & Stakeholder Relations
- Ensure strategic alignment by linking financial and performance activities to DARTS’ mission, objectives, and long-term plans.
- Liaise with the City of Hamilton regarding financial and performance matters.
- Support the DARTS Board of Directors by preparing reports and analyses that demonstrate financial acumen and analytical thinking.
General
- Ensure compliance with DARTS policies, including health and safety requirements.
- Undertake additional duties consistent with the position as required.
Job Specifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related discipline (CPA designation preferred).
- Minimum of seven (7) years' progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial management, including responsibility for budgeting, financial reporting, payroll administration, audit coordination, and financial analysis.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience supervising staff, including performance management, coaching, employee development, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and managing operating and capital budgets, financial statements, variance analyses, and year-end audit processes.
- Experience working in a non-profit, charitable, municipal, or publicly funded environment is considered an asset.

Pay: $85,000.00 per year
