We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst for a one-year contract position. HYBRID - one day per week in office (Oakville).

Role Overview
The Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while providing meaningful analysis that supports operational decision-making. Reporting to Finance leadership, this individual will balance month-end accounting responsibilities with financial analysis, stakeholder support, and continuous process improvement.
This position is well suited for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with data, improving processes, and partnering with operational teams to deliver practical financial solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, benefits, and other month-end adjustments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, vendor accounts, and other assigned reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, identify trends, and provide meaningful explanations for fluctuations across revenue and operating expense categories.
- Support the month-end close process by researching discrepancies, preparing adjustments, and ensuring financial results are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
- Partner with operations, payroll, accounts payable, FP&A, and other finance teams to resolve accounting issues, answer financial questions, and improve data accuracy.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports that provide actionable insights for both finance and operational leaders.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and automate recurring accounting and reporting activities.
- Leverage advanced Excel, reporting platforms, and emerging AI or automation tools to streamline reconciliations, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives, system enhancements, and special projects that support the ongoing evolution of the finance function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation (or active pursuit of CPA) is preferred.
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, or corporate finance.
- Solid understanding of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Experience working with ERP systems; Oracle and OTBI experience are considered strong assets.
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, and working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and communicate findings clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, customer-service mindset.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Interest in leveraging business intelligence, automation, and AI tools to improve finance processes.
Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
