Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans. This role involves working with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and senior care, ensuring optimal eye health and patient satisfaction. The Optometrist will utilize advanced electronic health record systems such as Optosys and engage in patient education and sales of eyewear products. A strong background in optical experience, medical terminology, and patient care is essential to succeed in this position.
Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and ocular health
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions using current clinical practices
- Prescribe corrective lenses and recommend appropriate treatments or interventions
- Manage pediatric and senior patient cases with tailored care approaches
- Utilize Optosys EHR system for documentation, scheduling, and follow-up care
- Educate patients on eye health, safety, and proper use of eyewear products
- Assist in sales of glasses, contact lenses, and other optical products to enhance patient experience
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and ophthalmology practices
Experience
- Prior optical experience is highly preferred
- Experience working with pediatric patients and senior care populations is advantageous
- Proven ability in patient care with excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to eye health
- Experience using Optosys or similar electronic health record systems is a plus
- Knowledge of sales techniques related to optical products is beneficial
- Must be registered to work under the College of Optometrists of Ontario
- Must possess an OHIP billing number
