Our multidisciplinary team works closely with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to create meaningful and individualized care plans for children with diverse developmental needs. We are looking for a Communicative Disorder Assistant (CDA)/ Speech and Language Assistant (SLPA) to work alongside our SLP to assist in assessments and treatments of speech challenges with children between the ages of 2 and 15 years old.
Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, energetic, and reliable Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to join our pediatric therapy team. The ideal candidate has experience working with children with special needs and is comfortable supporting children during therapy sessions, assessments, and daily living skill development, including hygiene routines and self-care tasks.
This role includes providing services in our clinics in Brampton and Mississauga, as well as traveling to clients’ homes for in-home therapy sessions.
Responsibilities
- Support Speech-Language Pathologists in delivering therapy programs and assessments
- Work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental delays, and other communication needs
- Assist children with functional communication and social interaction goals
- Support children with daily living and self-care skills, including hygiene routines and independence-building activities
- Implement individualized therapy plans under supervision
- Maintain session notes and documentation accurately and professionally
- Build positive relationships with families and caregivers
- Travel between clinic locations and in-home appointments as required
Qualifications
- Communicative Disorders Assistant diploma or equivalent educational background
- Experience working with children with special needs in clinic, school, home, or community settings
- Comfortable supporting children with hygiene routines and personal care tasks when required
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for in-home sessions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric therapy or early intervention settings
- Knowledge of AAC systems and visual supports is an asset
- Multilingual abilities are considered an asset
