This role is ideal for a seasoned construction professional who can lead large and complex projects, mentor project teams, manage client and trade relationships, and deliver high-quality results across scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality expectations.
The successful candidate will bring proven experience managing commercial, light industrial, low-rise mixed-use, recreational, multi-family, or assisted-living construction projects.

Job Summary
As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the construction process on large and/or multiple commercial construction projects. You will develop and review project scope, budgets, plans, and schedules while working closely with the Site Superintendent, project team, clients, consultants, trades, and vendors.
This position includes responsibility for client liaison, trade and vendor management, safety, quality control, project financials, risk management, change management, staffing, reporting, and stakeholder communication. The Senior Project Manager may also act as Project Lead on large or complex projects managed by Project Managers, providing oversight, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead large and/or complex commercial construction projects from pre-construction and project start-up through closeout, warranty, and financial collection.
- Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, budgets, document control processes, manpower plans, resources, and quality control plans.
- Coordinate project handover, trade buyout, subcontract documents, start-up meetings, trade/consultant meetings, operational reviews, and safety meetings.
- Monitor project productivity, performance, financial projections, reporting, invoicing, change management, risks, and schedule commitments.
- Serve as the primary client liaison, providing project updates, managing expectations, and supporting timely decision-making and payment processes.
- Work closely with Site Superintendents and project teams to ensure construction aligns with approved drawings, specifications, building codes, safety standards, quality expectations, and budget requirements.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve project risks, trade issues, constructability concerns, performance challenges, and potential legal or contractual matters.
- Conduct regular site visits and provide hands-on leadership, guidance, coaching, and mentorship to Project Managers, Junior Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Project Assistants, and other team members.
- Assume a Project Lead role on large and/or complex commercial or industrial projects, including oversight of processes, scheduling, financials, and team performance.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction, including large and complex projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, drawings, blueprints, specifications, schedules, budgets, contracts, and project management methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to manage mid-sized to large construction projects from start-up through closeout.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, motivate, and support project teams using a collaborative and hands-on approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, trades, vendors, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to support safe work practices in a high-pressure construction environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes, assess constructability issues, and determine practical solutions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Procore, and applicable construction project management software.
- Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Gold Seal Certification is preferred.
- PMP certification is considered an asset.
- Direct project experience in multi-family, assisted-living, recreational, low-rise mixed-use, commercial, or light industrial construction is preferred.
- Candidates who provide project lists supporting relevant commercial construction experience may be given preference.
Work Environment and Schedule
This role operates in a construction project environment and includes a combination of office-based project management, site visits, client meetings, trade coordination, and team leadership. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced construction setting with competing priorities, changing project conditions, and active job sites.
Flexibility to work overtime during peak project periods and travel to project sites on occasion is required.
