Tower Crane Electrician

Skills & Qualifications
- Electromechanical Engineering Technician program or equivalent degree
- Working towards an Electrical Licence such as 442A, Journeyman Electrician or interprovincial red seal
- Familiarity with the following electrical systems & processes
- AC up to 600/400/480 volt and DC up to 48 volts
- Wiring schematics, symbols and electrical measuring
- Electrical/mechanical drive technology (i.e. motors and gears)
- Control technology (i.e. controls/inverter)
- Programmable logic controllers [PLC]
- G drivers license with a clean driving record and no roadside suspensions or driving prohibitions in the past two years
- Fall-protection, high-angle rescue, and/or equipment operating tickets are all assets
- Must be physically able to climb ladders on tower cranes
- Comfortable working at heights and in all-weather conditions
- Self-starter with initiative and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
- Previous crane experience is an asset
Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients in-person and over the phone to diagnose reported problems on their equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical/hydraulic components used on tower cranes both in the field and in a yard environment
- Accurately identify warranty or customer damage to equipment to minimize internal costs
- Provide in-depth diagnosis and technical information for manufacturer warranty claims
- Perform preventative scheduled maintenance and repairs to ensure safe and proper working order of cranes
- Respond to emails, phone calls and text messages on a timely basis
- Complete timecards, work orders, inspection and repair reports as required
- Maintain an adequate level of stock in their technician vehicle, liaison with parts for required changes
- Work with the parts department to source accurate parts required for repairs and maintenance
- Assist with the loading and unloading of cranes at company facilities
