We are seeking a local to Lac La Biche or Conklin, AB, a dynamic Civil Earthworks Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our field staff. This position requires a dynamic person who is both people and task oriented. Great communications skills is an asset and the ability to delegate and mentor will make an applicant a great fit for the culture at MCL Group.
Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site coordination of manpower, materials and equipment,
- Maintain a high level of safety in compliance with both OH&S guidelines as well as MCL Group Policies,
- Class 1/3 Driver license and a clean driver's abstract,
- Able to operate and maintain equipment such as, excavator, dozer, loader.
- Accurately forecast crew costs and production rates,
- Efficiently plan for materials and equipment necessary to complete the scope of work,
- Coordinate sub contractors on site,
- Complete timekeeping records on a daily basis and that all relevant information is included,
- Keep a detailed record of daily events/communications (ie. weather, delays, ground conditions, etc.)
- Effective and clear communication with employees and head office.
Required Skills
- A professional, approachable and customer service oriented mentality,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules and costing reports,
- Thorough understanding of construction procedure and safety practices,
- Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation and maintenance
- Must be willing to travel.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ of earthworks supervisory experience as Foreman.
- Experience should include but not limited to grading, earthworks, and road construction.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Valid Class 1 Driver's License and Driver's Abstract
