About the Opportunity
Memory Tree is looking to expand our roster of talented Freelance Video Editors.
We're seeking editors who can take raw footage and transform it into polished, engaging stories that connect with audiences. You'll collaborate with our producers, creative directors, motion designers, and clients on a wide variety of corporate, commercial, documentary, social media, and event productions.
This is a freelance position with flexible scheduling based on project demand. While much of the work can be completed remotely, preference will be given to editors located in Ontario who can occasionally collaborate with our Waterloo production team when needed.
What You'll Do
- Edit compelling video content that aligns with creative briefs and client objectives
- Craft engaging narratives from interviews, b-roll, event footage, and branded content
- Assemble rough cuts, incorporate client feedback, and deliver polished final edits
- Perform colour correction, audio cleanup, pacing adjustments, and finishing
- Integrate graphics, motion elements, captions, and licensed music
- Collaborate with Producers, Creative Directors, Motion Designers, and Project Managers throughout post-production
- Ensure projects meet brand standards, technical specifications, and delivery deadlines
- Organize project files and maintain efficient editing workflows
- Contribute creative ideas that elevate storytelling and production quality
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional video editing experience in an agency, production company, broadcast, or in-house creative environment
- Exceptional storytelling, pacing, and editorial instincts
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a variety of editing styles and project types
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
- Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition is considered an asset
- Experience editing interviews, corporate videos, documentaries, event recaps, promotional videos, and social media content
- Strong understanding of colour correction, audio mixing, and finishing workflows
- Experience working with 4K and multi-camera productions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a creative team
- Experience working within established brand guidelines
- Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Frame.io, Dropbox, or similar platforms
Bonus Skills
