Yafa Café is a locally owned café and restaurant in Winnipeg, dedicated to sharing authentic Palestinian cuisine, hospitality, and culture. We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Barista & Customer Service Associate to join our team.
In this role, you will prepare specialty coffee, fresh beverages, and traditional Arabic drinks while providing exceptional customer service. You will learn our menu thoroughly so you can confidently explain our dishes, ingredients, and daily specials to customers. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Learn and understand the Yafa Café menu to answer customer questions and recommend food and beverages.
- Prepare and serve specialty coffee, espresso beverages, smoothies, fresh juices, and traditional Arabic drinks, including Arabic coffee, tea, karkade, and fresh lemonade.
- Take customer orders, process payments using the point-of-sale (POS) system, and handle cash accurately.
- Assist with preparing and serving food according to Yafa Café's quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the beverage station, dining area, kitchen support areas, and customer service areas.
- Follow food safety and safe food handling procedures at all times.
- Restock supplies and assist with opening and closing duties.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and an outstanding customer experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or customer service environment is an asset but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn about our cuisine, beverages, and hospitality.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is an asset.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
