Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Loader Operator to join our construction and heavy equipment team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy machinery, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, and backhoes. This role requires mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to perform tasks efficiently in a dynamic construction environment. The Loader Operator will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth progression of construction projects by handling materials, earthmoving, and site preparation with precision and safety.
Duties
- Operate loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, and backhoes to move materials efficiently across construction sites.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with site preparation activities such as grading, paving, and earthmoving operations.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs when necessary.
- Safely operate equipment in compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Coordinate with team members to complete tasks on schedule while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Support other construction activities such as horizontal drilling or commercial driving as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, and backhoes.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on project needs.
- Construction experience with familiarity in paving or site grading is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques is a plus.
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to recognize potential hazards on-site.
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
- Prior experience with heavy equipment operation such as graders or pavers is advantageous.
