We are currently seeking a full time AZ Heavy Equipment Float Driver to join our team in Whitefish, ON!
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the AZ Heavy Equipment Float Driver will be responsible for the safe pickup, transportation, delivery, and unloading of heavy equipment to various customer and project job sites in a timely and professional manner. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring customers receive exceptional service while maintaining all company and regulatory safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport, deliver, and pick up heavy and medium equipment safely and efficiently between company locations, customer sites, and project locations;
- Load, secure, deliver, and unload heavy equipment and attachments in accordance with load securement regulations and company procedures;
- Explain basic equipment operation and safety procedures to customers when required;
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported safely within customer timelines and expectations;
- Assist customers with handling and positioning equipment as required;
- Inspect equipment upon pickup and immediately report any damages or concerns to the supervisor;
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate inspection records;
- Complete all required CVOR/NSC documentation including logbooks, inspection reports, load securement documentation, and run sheets;
- Maintain delivery documentation accurately to support operational integrity;
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are kept clean, fueled, lubricated, and properly maintained;
- Report vehicle or equipment damage, mechanical issues, or required maintenance to the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator or Supervisor;
- Consult with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to arrange repairs and scheduled maintenance as required;
- Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with all Provincial, State, Federal, and Company regulations;
- Adhere to all oversize load requirements, municipal permits, routing restrictions, and transportation regulations where applicable;
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while representing the company; and,
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safe work practices, and customer site safety requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating and transporting heavy equipment;
- Oversize/overweight experience required
- Significant travel in northern Ontario with frequent overnight stays required
- Valid Class AZ Driver’s License, clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR/NSC Abstract;
- Experience operating various types of heavy equipment and equipment attachments;
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles in various ranges and conditions;
- Strong understanding of load securement, oversized loads, and transportation regulations;
- Dangerous Goods Certification is considered an asset;
- Forklift and heavy equipment operating experience;
- Strong communication and customer service skills;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions;
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis; and,
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods including hard hat, safety vest, safety boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
