DEPUTY DIRECTOR

Native Counselling Services of Alberta’s mission is to promote the resilience of the indigenous individual and family, through programs and services that are grounded in reclaiming our interconnectedness, reconciliation of relationships and self-determination.
Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) Deputy Director plays a key leadership role in supporting the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Healing Lodge. Rooted in traditional healing practices and cultural values, the Deputy Director collaborates with the Director and NCSA CEO to organize Elders, staff and community partners to ensure the delivery of holistic, trauma-informed and culturally safe programming to clients. The role involves program oversight, staff supervision, operational support and relationship building, ensuring the Lodge continues to meet the mission the mission of healing, growth and cultural connection.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:

Leadership and operation by assisting the Director, assisting in implementing strategic plans, goals and policies.

Program management by planning, coordination and collaboration with Elders to integrate cultural teachings.

Extensive experience in correctional operations or public safety leadership.
Our ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

In-depth experience and working knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, healing and language.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, Indigenous studies, health administration or a related field (or equivalent living experience).

5 + years of progressive leadership experience in community healing, social services or with Indigenous organizations.

Strong understanding of trauma, intergenerational impacts of colonization, and holistic wellness approaches.

Excellent interpersonal communication, time management and organizational skills.

Understanding of governance structure, funding processes and service delivery within Indigenous contexts.

Extensive experience in correctional operations or public safety leadership, managing large teams and complex organizations are assets.

Understanding of traditional healing, ceremonies or cultural facilitation is required.

When required willing to work evenings, weekends, depending on ceremonies or community events.

Some travel maybe required, willing to participate in cultural and land-based events.

Must have a reliable valid Alberta driver’s license with required liability insurance and confirmation of insurance coverage to use your vehicle for work and/or to transport clients.

Must provide up to date criminal record check, child intervention check and pass CSC mandatory screening process.
Starting Salary - $75,000.00 annual
