Status: Full-time
The pay range for the role is $75,200 to $125,400 plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.
Job Scope:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the scope of this position involves leading the Processing & Packaging teams for Butter and Aerosol Topping, to achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the plant operations during your shift; this is a ‘hands-on’ position directly supervise all shift staff, including training/coaching, planning workloads / executing production schedules, and disciplinary procedures where required. Emphasis is on time spent on the floor directly supervising to meet organization goals.
- Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members
- Responsible for achieving departmental KPIs and fostering continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure Compliance with the Collective Agreement
- Work closely with the production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene and GMP's
- Responsible for employees' hours & updating associated tracking systems
- Develop a co-operative team approach in the Production Department and work closely with Maintenance, Distribution, Quality Control, Human Resources, Production Scheduler, and other site team members regarding any production issues
- Validate production records and generate daily operating reports
- Champion and enforce Health & Safety with a proactive approach to prevent accidents in the plant
- Responsible to train operators on all changes in the Food Safety & Quality system as communicated by Management and QA
- Complete documentation of GMPs, H&S and HACCP related items
- Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided and accurate record keeping
- Attend prescribed courses/training
- Works overtime as required to meet production demands.
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of related work experience in a HACCP /SQF regulated consumer packaged goods manufacturing environment is required, food industry preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of Supervisory experience is required
- Solid knowledge of GMPs, including excellent sanitary habits and a strong understanding of HACCP and MSS as it applies to a food manufacturing environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability, with the ability to understand complex, automated production processes
- Familiar with total quality management and continuous improvement processes
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, including written and verbal
- Good decision-making & problem-solving capabilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
- Must be punctual and diligent, with strong attention to detail
- Proficient computer abilities including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint Power BI), ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365), WMS, etc.
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the job
- Adaptable and flexible to work overtime hours & weekend coverage
Working Environment:
Regular exposure to noise, humidity and dry conditions. Continuous exposure to hazardous machines and frequent interruptions. Occasional exposure to dust and extreme temperatures.
Physical Demands:
Standing and walking for an extended length of time. Sitting, climbing stairs and working in awkward positions at moderate lengths of time.
