Reporting to the Lead, Medical Affairs, the Physician Recruiter is responsible for coordinating and executing physician recruitment activities that support the delivery of high-quality services across Recovery Alberta. This role is accountable for managing full-cycle physician recruitment processes and developing strong partnerships with medical, operational, and external stakeholders to attract and secure qualified physicians in support of organizational workforce priorities. The successful candidate will manage end-to-end recruitment activities for assigned physician vacancies, including developing and posting opportunities, sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, collecting references, facilitating hiring approvals, and preparing offers. As the primary point of contact for physician candidates throughout the recruitment lifecycle, the Physician Recruiter is responsible for delivering a professional and positive candidate experience. The Physician Recruiter also supports a variety of recruitment administration and workforce planning activities, including preparing and maintaining physician job descriptions, collecting and managing applicant documentation, updating recruitment databases, providing regular recruitment status reports, and supporting onboarding processes. The Physician Recruiter is responsible for ensuring all recruitment activities are conducted in accordance with established policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Administration, or a related field. A combination of education and directly related experience may be considered. Minimum three years of progressive experience in medical affairs, recruitment, talent acquisition, workforce planning, or human resources.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience supporting full-cycle recruitment activities within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Strong project management, organizational, and coordination skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload and manage competing demands. Proven ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to establish credibility and trust with physicians, operational leaders, Medical Affairs teams, and external partners. Strong consultation and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and tailor messaging to meet stakeholder needs. Experience preparing recruitment documentation, reports, correspondence, and presentations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Copilot and Access. Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with recruitment policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement. Ability to travel to physician recruitment meetings, and healthcare sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in medical affairs, physician recruitment, medical staff recruitment, or healthcare recruitment is highly preferred. Knowledge of Alberta physician licensure pathways, CPSA processes, and Medical Affairs processes is an asset. Experience within Alberta’s healthcare system is preferred. Certification in CPHR, PMP, PROSCI, or a related professional designation is considered an asset. Knowledge of physician engagement, retention, and recognition strategies is desirable.
