Structural Steel Draftsman (Estimating & Project Management Responsibilities)
Our client is looking for a Structural Steel Draftsman to join their team in Belleville, ON. This role is responsible for producing detailed shop drawings, erection plans, and fabrication documents for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects. In addition to drafting, this role supports the estimating department with quantity takeoffs and pricing, and assists project management with coordination, scheduling, and client communication.

Responsibilities
- Produce accurate shop drawings, erection plans, and fabrication documents for structural steel and miscellaneous metal projects using software like AutoCAD, Advance Steel, or Tekla.
- Interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to create detailed fabrication and connection specifications.
- Develop material lists, bolt schedules, weld symbols, and connection details following industry standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, and site teams to resolve design conflicts and ensure constructability.
- Revise drawings based on feedback from RFIs, design changes, or site conditions.
- Assist the estimating team with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and tender document reviews.
- Support project managers with scheduling, progress tracking, and procurement coordination.
- Maintain logs for RFIs, change orders, and progress tracking as needed.
- Communicate with clients, suppliers, and site teams to resolve issues and ensure timely project delivery.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide technical guidance during fabrication and installation.

Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Structural Steel Detailing, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Tekla Structures, or similar detailing software.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding symbols, connection types, and erection sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., CISC) and building codes is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting project management or estimating functions an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
