About the Role
As a Loss Prevention Officer with Invictus Properties, you play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our guests, employees, and properties. Working primarily overnight, you will patrol the hotel and surrounding areas, respond to incidents, and support a safe, welcoming environment for everyone on site.
This role is ideal for someone who is observant, calm under pressure, and confident managing challenging situations. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, including local authorities, to support a safe and positive guest and client experience.
What You’ll Do
- Patrol and monitor all interior and exterior areas of the property to ensure safety and security
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel
- Monitor security systems, including cameras, alarms, and access points
- Manage and de-escalate disruptive situations involving guests or unauthorized individuals
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation in line with company standards
- Support fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and key control procedures
- Collaborate with hotel teams to proactively address safety and security risks
- Liaise with RCMP, community services, and outreach programs when required
- Contribute to a professional, respectful, and service-focused environment
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in security, loss prevention, or a related field
- Ability to work independently with strong judgment and decision-making skills
- Proven conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities
- Professional, calm, and confident demeanor in high-pressure situations
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Basic computer proficiency across multiple applications
- Security license and/or First Aid certification are considered assets
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required
- Criminal record check required
- Flexible availability with a commitment to overnight shifts
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Working Conditions
- Overnight shifts typically from 8:30pm – 7:00am
- Fast-paced hospitality environment with occasional high-pressure situations
- Regular interaction with guests, employees, and external partners (e.g., RCMP, outreach services)
- Shift work including weekends and holidays as required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting property patrols
- Frequent movement, including bending, kneeling, and responding quickly to incidents
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 20 lbs when required
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsive throughout overnight shifts
