Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with dementia or other disabilities. The Support Worker will assist with daily living activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment while promoting independence and dignity.
The job location is around the Maberly area and this is a Live-In care position.
About the Role
As a Live-In Caregiver, you will serve as a "Care Concierge," providing continuous around-the-clock support, personal care, companionship, and household assistance. In this role, you will reside in the client’s home for the duration of your assigned shift (typically 48–72 hours at a time), ensuring the client’s safety, comfort, and peace of mind.
This position is ideal for compassionate, dependable care providers who excel at building strong one-on-one relationships and managing a calm, supportive home environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, mobility, and skin care.
- Companionship: Offer meaningful social interaction through conversation, hobbies, games, reading, and accompanying clients on walks or outings.
- Domestic Support: Provide light housekeeping (vacuuming, dusting, laundry, dishes), meal planning and preparation, and grocery shopping.
- Safety & Supervision: Maintain a safe living environment and provide active supervision to prevent falls or wandering.
- Health & Medication Monitoring: Provide medication reminders/assistance per company policy and observe, record, and report changes in client health or behavior.
- Documentation: Keep accurate shift notes and report progress through the AlayaCare platform.
Live-In Schedule & Accommodations
- Shift Duration: Reside in the client’s home for assigned shifts (typically 2–3 consecutive days/nights).
- Accommodations Provided: Private bedroom, meals, and access to laundry facilities provided by the client during your shift.
- Nighttime Availability: Assist the client 1–2 times per night as needed while maintaining a standard sleep schedule.
- Daily Breaks: Enjoy a minimum 2-hour daily block for personal time/leaving the home (coordinated with the Care Team).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Completion of a recognized care program (PSW, HCA, HSW, CCA, or foreign nursing equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Background Check: Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) completed within the last 6 months.
- Certifications: Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Legal Status: Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Experience: Prior experience in home care, community support, or long-term care facilities is an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $180.00-$210.00 per day
