Tree Band Aid seeking Urban Forestry Technicians for the Fall 2026 Season
Position Description: The Urban Forestry Technicians will assist with the fall tree banding season, applying tree bands and tanglefoot to trees throughout Winnipeg to prevent cankerworm infestations. Responsibilities include maintaining banding records, working independently or with a partner, and ensuring efficient, high-quality work. Technicians will also address safety concerns, build positive relationships with staff and clients, and may deliver flyers or assist with other tasks as needed. The role requires reliability, good communication skills, and the ability to work safely and independently in various conditions.
Employment Type: Full time, Term Contract, Flexible
Term: August 21st to early October
Remuneration: starting at $18.50 per hour, 25-40 hours per week.
Background: Tree Band Aid is a Winnipeg-based tree banding service, in operation since 2001. Our mandate is to protect our city's beloved tree canopy against cankerworm infestations by installing high quality tree bands at an affordable cost.
Responsibilities: In cooperation with other Tree Band Aid staff, the Tree Banders have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Applying tree bands and tanglefoot to trees across the city
- Maintaining and updating banding records, ensuring accurate information
- Working quickly and efficiency while maintaining quality
- Ability to solve problems as they arise
- Communication of safety concerns
- Build positive relationships with staff and customers
- Delivering flyers as needed
- Other duties, as assigned.
Essential Qualifications: Must be reliable and able to work without close supervision. Key qualifications include:
- Safety-orientated
- Valid Drivers License
- Organized, punctual, responsible and self-disciplined
- Good communication skills
- Able to work well with a team
- Ability to consistently and safely carry a 25 pound pail
- Available to work 25 to 40 hours per week with flexible scheduling options
Desired Qualifications:
- Vehicle access considered an asset
