Finnish Home is looking for a casual Activity Worker to join our Recreation team in our long-term care facility located in South Vancouver.
Finnish Home is a non-profit long-term care community dedicated to providing compassionate, resident-centered care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Our recreation team plays an important role in implementing activities and supporting the residents’ social, physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual wellbeing.

Position Details
- Casual/on-call position

- Shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Training and orientation provided
Responsibilities
- Carry out resident activities such as arts and crafts, sports, music, painting, cooking, gardening, special events and exercises as directed
- Assist residents to and from activities
- Orients, trains and utilizes volunteers to aid with recreation programs
- Assist resident with meals and dining services
- Follow infection prevention and control practices
- Make posters, timetables and keep residents informed of upcoming events; completes activity and menu board daily
- Work respectfully and professionally with residents and families
- Support a positive, welcoming, and home-like environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 and Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Recreation program plus experience in health care or long-term care settings
- Physically able to perform recreation duties, including lifting, bending, pushing carts, and being on your feet for extended periods
- Familiar with PCC and Activity Pro considered an asset
- Knowledge of infection control and safe personal protective equipment practices
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to teach and lead groups
- Ability to work independently, as well as with the inter-disciplinary team and volunteers
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Perform other related duties as assigned
