Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Developmental Support Worker (DSW) to join our team in Brantford. The successful candidate will provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, and dual diagnoses within a residential setting.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about promoting independence, dignity, inclusion, and quality of life while supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and follow Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and individualized care plans.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, nutrition, medication administration, and household tasks.
- Promote independence, self-determination, and community inclusion.
- Support residents in developing social, communication, and life skills.
- Facilitate participation in educational, recreational, vocational, and community-based activities.
- Utilize positive behavioural support strategies and crisis intervention techniques when required.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes, incident reports, and progress reports.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming residential environment.
- Safely transport residents to appointments, community outings, and activities in accordance with organizational policies.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate as a Developmental Services Worker (DSW).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in residential treatment, developmental services, social services, or a related field.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, or dual diagnosis.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
- Current Safe Management Certification.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Current TB Test.
- Up-to-date Immunization Record.
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
