Overview:
We are currently seeking a part time Barista/Baker to work at our Garden Center Cafe serving our clientele and assisting with sales in our indoor shop. The cafe will be open 9-3 March to November, this position is looking for someone to fill in our Thursday/Friday/Saturday shifts with flexibility to cover for sickbays the rest of the week.
Our Garden Centre closes November 1st but we may keep the bakery open until mid December. The Garden Centre fully closes until March 1st then opens back to 7 days a week.
As a Barista/Baker, you will be responsible for providing customer service and preparing delicious beverages and baking fresh goodies daily. If you have a passion for coffee and baking, enjoy creating memorable experiences for customers, we would love to hear from you.
Our bakery here at Paradise Plants is on the slower side but is steadily increasing, typically summers slow down but we are finding it is maintaining. We need assistance to cover the more busy shifts and help with sick days. Most of the time you will be working with another person but will also have parts or some solo shifts.
Tips are split with who ever is working and range from $15-$60 a day depending on business and quality of customer care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
- Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences
- Operate the espresso machine and other equipment to brew coffee and prepare ingredients
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the coffee station and work area
-Regular cleaning of the cafe tables/floor
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as needed
- Follow health and safety guidelines when handling food and beverages
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving any issues that may arise
-Daily Baking
Requirements:
-Foodsafe level 1
- Previous experience as a Barista or in the food service industry
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere
-Time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of food handling procedures
