About Us
The Nelson & Ft. Sheppard Railway is a historic shortline railway company committed to safe and reliable transportation services. We also operate a multi-commodity rail reload facility in Trail, BC supporting customers across multiple industries.
Position Overview
As a Railway & Reload Crew Member, you’ll work directly with our operations team to support railway maintenance, transloading activities, site operations, and equipment use.
This role provides practical experience and exposure to:
- Railway operations
- Track maintenance and infrastructure
- Railcar loading and unloading
- Equipment operation
- Industrial safety practices
- Team-based field operations
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist with railway track maintenance and repair activities
- Support railcar loading, unloading, and transload operations
- Operate tools and equipment with training provided
- Participate in site upkeep and general operational activities
- Work alongside experienced railway personnel on daily operations
- Assist with inspections and preventative maintenance activities
- Support safe and efficient movement of freight and materials
- Perform other railway and reload duties as required
Schedule:
Monday–Friday | Day Shift
Primarily outdoor work in all weather conditions

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (completed or in progress)
- No railway experience required — training provided
- Forklift or equipment experience is an asset
- First Aid certification is an asset
- Strong attendance and willingness to learn
