Keystone School is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver engaging and inquiry-based lesson plans that align with the Ontario curriculum for Grades 9-12. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting critical thinking and independent learning, and supporting student success through collaboration with colleagues, parents, and administration.
Responsibilities:
- Implement engaging, inquiry-based lesson plans that align with the Ontario curriculum for Grades 9-12.
- Design and facilitate experiential learning activities and projects that encourage students to explore literature, writing, and language arts.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and respects diverse learning styles.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of assessment methods and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning skills among students.
- Integrate technology and digital resources to enhance the learning experience and support project-based learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to support student success and address any challenges.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and curriculum changes.
- Plan and supervise extracurricular activities, field trips, and school events as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports.
- Develop and implement strategies to support students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Encourage and guide students in developing strong communication and analytical skills.
- Promote a love of reading and literature through various classroom activities and programs.
- Participate in school committees, staff meetings, and contribute to the overall school community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification.
- Proven experience teaching English at the high school level.
- Strong understanding of the Ontario curriculum and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Experience with project-based learning and inquiry-based teaching methods.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and resources.
- Previous experience in a private school setting.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
