Job Overview
Homewood Suites by Hilton North Bay is seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Maintenance Manager to oversee the physical preservation and safety of our beautiful lakeside extended-stay property. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for managing the hotel's infrastructure, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and aquatic systems operate flawlessly. Your primary goal will be to create a safe, fully operational, and immaculate environment that upholds the high standards of the Hilton brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement and execute the hotel’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maximize facility longevity and minimize equipment downtime.
- Hands-on Repairs: Perform and oversee repairs across all guest suites and public areas, including plumbing, minor electrical work, carpentry, drywall patching, and painting.
- System Management: Monitor, troubleshoot, and service critical facility infrastructure, including commercial HVAC units, boilers, and life safety equipment.
- Pool Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness and chemical balance of our indoor pool and hot tub in strict compliance with Ontario health regulations.
- Curb Appeal: Ensure property exteriors, walkways, and parking structures are impeccably clean and safe, coordinating seasonal tasks like snow removal and landscaping.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance staff, establishing shift schedules and conducting performance reviews.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner closely with Housekeeping and the Guest Service Operations team to resolve guest requests rapidly and minimize out-of-order room counts.
- Contractor & Budget Management: Solicit quotes, supervise third-party contractors, maintain spare parts inventory, and manage the department budget under General Manager approval.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel, extended-stay resort, or commercial property.
- Leadership: Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience managing a technical team.
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced, working knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical building installations.
- Certifications: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) designation or willingness to obtain it immediately upon hire is highly preferred.
- System Literacy: Comfortable reading technical manuals, schematics, and blue prints.
- Schedule: Flexibility to work changing schedules including weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call shifts for emergency situations.
- Legal: Must hold a valid driver's license and be legally permitted to work in Ontario, Canada.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods during a standard shift.
- Capability to safely lift, pull, or push loads weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Comfort working on ladders, in cramped spaces, or outdoors during Northern Ontario winter weather conditions.
