We are currently engaging the 32 Fraser Salish First Nations on two key areas of strategic level work: (a) the evolution of both our regional health governance structure and regional engagement pathways (b) the refresh of our five-year regional health & wellness plan (c) the implementation of the Fraser Partnership Accord with the Indigenous Health Collaborative Council.
Title: Director for First Nations Governance, Engagement & Culture
Salary: $114,892 - $128,409 - $ 155,443per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 8:30am- 4:30pm, Mon- Fri (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Onsite- Any of the FNHA Fraser Salish Regional Offices (Sto:lo office, Matsqui office or Surrey office. Travel will be required across the entire Fraser Salish Region
About the role
As a Director for First Nations Governance, Engagement & Culture you will provide senior strategic leadership to ensure traditional wellness approaches grounded in First Nations values, principles, and models of care are embedded across regional health services. It supports the Regional Senior Executive Team in planning, governance, risk mitigation, and standards development, while upholding engagement standards aligned with Fraser Salish cultural and traditional protocols. Aligned with the collective mandates of the FNHA, FNHDA, and FNHC, the role represents the Executive in key engagements, strengthens regional partnerships, and contributes to strategic advice, briefings, and reports that advance community driven governance priorities.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have/be;
Education & Occupational Certification, Experience (REQUIRED)

University degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Health Administration, Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, or a related field

Minimum five (5) years of experience working with First Nation and/or Indigenous communities, including direct collaboration with Leadership, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners

An equivalent combination of education, training, and First Nations experience will be considered

Direct and recent experience working with First Nation Leadership and Governance, including engagement with elected leadership, hereditary leadership, governance tables, and Nation based decision making bodies

Recent and relevant experience in First Nations distinct governance and engagement processes
-
Recent and relevant experience applying First Nations traditional knowledge, cultural teachings, and traditional ways in professional practice
-
Direct experience working with First Nations communities, organizations, and community leadership in multiple capacities
-
Demonstrated experience working with Senior Executives, community leaders, and board members to support governance, engagement, and strategic decision making

Significant experience in senior level strategic and operational planning, including developing and implementing multi year strategies and work plans

Experience providing leadership and partnering with senior management on complex projects, initiatives, and organizational priorities
-
Recent and relevant experience working within British Columbia’s health care system, with understanding of system partners, structures, and operational contexts

Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent)
Occupational Certification, Experience (CONSIDERED AN ASSET)

Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Social Work, Public Health, Indigenous Governance, Public Administration)

Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP)

Training in cultural safety and humility (e.g., San’yas)

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.
The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
