Duties
- Assist farm manager with daily farm operational activities
- Operate heavy equipment and power tools safely to support irrigation systems and maintenance tasks
- Maintain irrigation systems by inspecting pipes, valves, and sprinklers to ensure proper water distribution
- Perform routine maintenance on farm machinery and equipment to keep operations running smoothly
- Use basic math skills to measure and record crop yields, application rates, and other farm data
- Conduct regular inspections of the bog for pests, disease, or structural issues, reporting findings promptly
- Assist with heavy lifting of supplies, fruit bins, or equipment as needed in a safe manner
- Always keep the work site and farm clean
Experience
- Prior experience working on a farm or in horticulture is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with farm machinery and power tools is advantageous
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently is a plus
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems and horticultural practices is beneficial
- Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Strong sense of urgency regarding the farm’s essential needs to sustain its production
