Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Assistant to join our team. This is for a supply staff/on-call. You would fill in for staff on vacation or who have called in sick. Hours may vary by week with more hours being offered to you during high vacation request times. You would be contacted as early as 6:30 am to come in for a shift or asked ahead of time to be scheduled when regular staff are on vacation. We have two locations and you may be called to work at either. Both are located in Port Hope.
The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the growth and development of young children. This role requires a strong commitment to early childhood education, creativity in lesson planning, and the ability to engage with children and their families effectively.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians on their child's development.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to create a supportive community.
- Maintain accurate records of children's activities, behavior, and developmental milestones.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience within the program.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Requirements
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching young children.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Valid First aid and CPR certificate is a must
- Criminal background with vulnerable sector check
- Updated immunization record
