Position Overview
We are looking for a Scale House & Logistics Dispatcher to join our Richmond team. This role involves weighing and ticketing customers and suppliers, coordinating daily logistics dispatching, and assisting with shipping documentation. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable speaking with drivers and customers over the phone and in person.
Key Responsibilities
- Scale customers and suppliers in and out and issue tickets accurately.
- Process supplier payments and maintain organized records.
- Coordinate daily logistics and dispatch schedules.
- Handle incoming dry vans and direct them to the proper areas.
- Assist with logistics and shipping documentation.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and internal team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment at the scale house.
Requirements
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking with customers and drivers over the phone and in person.
- Strong with numbers and comfortable handling supplier payments and transaction details accurately.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Excel and dispatching software; must be comfortable learning and using new digital tools.
- Comfortable working in a scrap yard environment, including exposure to heavy machinery, dust, noise, and outdoor conditions.
- Proactive and attentive, able to take initiative and stay aware of daily activities without needing constant direction.
- Open to learning about the scrap metal industry and the different types of metals.
- Previous experience in logistics, dispatching, or scale operations is an asset but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $45,000 CAD
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
