Battle River Energy Ltd. (Battle River) is a junior oil company, with a head office located downtown Calgary. Founded in 2018, Battle River is a conventional heavy oil producer operating in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB).
The Role
Battle River is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The role is for a three-month term. The ideal candidate brings a background in oil and gas, along with strong experience in financial reporting and full-cycle accounting.
Accountabilities
- Support monthly and quarterly processes such as journal entries, reconciliations, and the development of supporting working papers for multiple entities.
- Prepare supporting working papers for accruals, depletion, ARO, share-based compensation, and derivatives.
- Assist with capital, joint venture, marketing, revenue and royalty reporting.
- Preparation of period end financial statements.
- Support the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Assist with external audits and Canadian statutory requirements (ESTMA, EPAP, GST).
Qualifications
- University level Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of Qbyte financial software would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with IFRS financial reporting standards.
- A CPA designation (or progress towards it)
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pay: $55.00 per hour
