APEX Cardiopulmonary Scientific Research Initiatives (ACSIS) is a leading cardiology and respiratory health research program dedicated to advancing patient care through innovative science. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in clinical trials, data management, or regulatory compliance who are eager to contribute to meaningful research.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaise with investigators, research team members, family physicians, and other healthcare professionals to obtain and verify information on test results, side effects, and participant status.
- Review clinical and research charts to identify relevant data, including medical reports and test results.
- Accurately verify, enter, and submit data into electronic data capture (EDC) systems and/or paper-based case report forms (CRFs) within study timelines.
- Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) and other study-related sample collections in accordance with protocol and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Support multiple concurrent studies while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree (or in-progress degree) in health sciences, life sciences, psychology, nursing, or a related field.
- Phlebotomy certification or equivalent training/experience in venipuncture.
- 1 year of clinical research, investigational drug trial, or research data entry experience preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology.
- TCPS2 certification
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and adherence to study requirements.
Preferred/Asset
- Previous research, clinical, or academic project experience.
- Familiarity with electronic data systems such as iMedidata Rave, Veeva, PPD, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
