About the Role
The Carbon Trader will complement ClearSky’s sales team by supporting execution in carbon markets, helping manage transactions, market intelligence, pricing, and structured offtake opportunities. This role is intended for a commercially astute professional with experience in environmental commodities, carbon markets, or adjacent trading environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of carbon credit sales, purchases, swaps, and structured transactions across voluntary and compliance markets.
- Monitor market developments, pricing trends, policy changes, and buyer activity relevant to ClearSky’s portfolio.
- Assist in developing pricing views, transaction strategies, and market intelligence for internal decision-making.
- Work closely with the sales team to support negotiation and execution of offtakes, spot transactions, forwards, and other commercial structures.
- Help manage transaction workflows, including internal approvals, contracting coordination, and post-trade documentation.
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, intermediaries, and market participants.
- Support portfolio positioning across multiple project types, registries, and delivery profiles.
- Coordinate with project development and finance teams to align monetization strategies with project timelines and capital needs.
- Contribute to the refinement of ClearSky’s broader carbon monetization strategy.
Qualifications
- 3 to 7 years of experience in carbon markets, environmental commodities, energy trading, commodity sales, or a related field.
- Relevant education in finance, economics, business, environmental markets, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, pricing, and transaction structures.
- Excellent commercial judgment and analytical skills.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with pricing data, transaction pipelines, and market intelligence.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial trading environment.
- Direct experience transacting carbon credits or related environmental products is strongly preferred.
