Do you thrive in solving complex financial challenges and ensuring seamless operations across payables, receivables, and reporting functions? If so, Millennium Insurance is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic and growing finance team.
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day financial operations — including accounts payable, general ledger reconciliation, month-end closing, and financial reporting. - Evaluate accounting issues and prepare non-recurring journal entries.
- Analyze data related to key performance indicators and risk metrics, providing valuable business insights.
- Collaborate on budget preparation, forecasting, risk assessment, and compliance reporting (including GST filings and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance regulatory reporting), as well as fulfilling ad hoc reporting needs.
- Prepare Financial Discussion and Analysis (FD&A) reports for presentation to Senior Management and the Board.
- Establish and document accounting controls through the development of policies and procedures, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
- Uphold compliance with accounting standards and regulations, safeguarding integrity and reliability.
- Lead and support various special projects as needed, leveraging expertise and teamwork to achieve objectives.
- Completion of an accounting degree or diploma, with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong preference for CPA designation. Familiarity with the insurance industry would be advantageous
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office Suite (especially Excel), databases and accounting software
- Sage experience is considered an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization skills, accuracy, and ability to prioritize tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a proactive approach to listening
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and manage time effectively
