Position: First Cook
Location: Arbutus Ridge Golf Club
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, plus staff benefits after the probationary period.
Join Our Culinary Team
Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is seeking an experienced, motivated, and professional First Cook to join our kitchen team. Our food and beverage operation includes a busy restaurant, patio service, tournaments, banquets, and special events. We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing exceptional food while contributing to a positive and collaborative kitchen culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Lead kitchen operations during scheduled shifts.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently, efficiently, and with attention to quality.
- Assist with daily prep and production.
- Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
- Support banquet, tournament, and special event food preparation.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Assist with training and mentoring line cooks and kitchen staff.
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience.
- Red Seal certification is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Experience in high-volume restaurant, golf club, hotel, or banquet environments preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
