Roundabout Laundry, Ottawa, Ontario
Full-Time
About Us
Roundabout Laundry is Ottawa's busiest self-service laundromat and the highest-rated laundry business in the city, offering self-service laundry, wash-dry-fold, dry cleaning, and pickup & delivery. We pair a modern, tech-enabled facility with real customer care - and we're just getting started. We're a growing, hands-on operation building a genuine leadership structure, and we're looking for someone to join our leadership team.
Position Overview
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to lead our team of Laundry Liaisons (front-line staff) and run day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be a true people manager, coaching performance and developing the team while also owning customer escalations, inventory, scheduling, and working shifts alongside your team day to day. You'll also work alongside the Operations Manager as the connective tissue between the store floor and our delivery department, keeping both sides running as one operation instead of two. This is a chance to join a growing company that will give you the tools, and empower you to completely own your role, and succeed.
You may be our ideal candidate if you are a natural leader who takes ownership of the space, the operations, and the team. If you are someone who's independent, self-directed, and genuinely wants to build a career with us.
Why Join Us?
- We're a flexible, fast-moving workplace that's evolving quickly. Bring your ideas and implement them into reality.
- You're joining a business pushing the laundry industry forward; turning a classically boring and un-glamorous industry into an exciting and fast moving opportunity.
- You'll inherit a strong team of Laundry Liaisons already delivering delightful customer service. Your job is to lead and grow them, not build from zero.
- You'll work directly with ownership and leadership to develop your team and shape operations, without layers of approval slowing you down.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate your team with full autonomy. You decide how the floor runs, how your Liaisons are coached, and what the day-to-day rhythm looks like, as long as the results are there.
- Aim to Delight by leveraging your team to set the standard for what a delightful customer experience looks like, and coach your Laundry Liaisons to hit it in every interaction.
- Be the on-site lead whenever you're in the store. Be the first point of contact for your team, and for anything that needs a decision made now.
- Handle the customer escalations that require real judgment, protecting the customer relationship and the business interests at the same time.
- Assist the Operations Manager as the go-between for the facility and our delivery department, keeping the two sides talking and running as one smooth operation.
- Own scheduling; including stepping into a shift yourself when someone calls in.
- Run the background administrative tasks that keep the store operating smoothly even when you're not on the floor.
- Take the lead on community engagement, hosting events and initiatives that build Roundabout's presence in the community.
- Shape the work environment and how the business shows up publicly. This is your space to build.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years experience leading a team is required. We expect candidates to be able to speak to specific examples of management challenges and successes from their previous roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing a team of 5+ people.
- Strong understanding of day-to-day operations and customer service.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Comfortable with scheduling, inventory management, and light administrative/reporting work.
- Comfortable with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and other cloud based applications.
- Additional consideration for candidates adept at integrating AI into their workflow to boost performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead by example.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, jumping into shifts where required.
If you're someone who thrives on being the person a team can count on, and is looking to build a career — not just take a job — we encourage you to apply.
