As one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Fresh Direct Produce is looking for an energetic and proactive Accounts Payable Specialist team player to join our dynamic Vancouver team!
This full-time position reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and is responsible for handling day-to-day account payable activities within the department, as well as processing and monitoring the payments in an effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be a strong team collaborator, able to work independently, and has solid analytical thinking abilities.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process a high volume of transactions monthly, ensuring minimum daily Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met
- Perform vendor statement reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items
- Investigate and resolve invoice/payment discrepancies, including freight and pricing differences
- Review and verify cargo receipts and resolve discrepancies with internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with purchasing and receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate data entry
- Prepare and process weekly cheque runs and electronic payments
- Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliation tasks
Qualifications
- 1+ years proven ability to lead others in a high-volume department preferably within the retail or distribution industry.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle AP, including PO-based invoice processing, cargo receipt verification, and vendor reconciliations
- Experience handling freight invoices and inventory-related transactions is highly preferred
- Intermediate Excel skills (e.g VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivot Tables) with ability to manage and analyze large datasets
- Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
