Job Description: General Manager
Overview
The General Manager is the senior operational leader responsible for the overall performance of the organization. Reporting directly to the President, this role provides leadership, coordination, and accountability across all business functions. The General Manager ensures strategic objectives are translated into operational execution and directly oversees the Operations Manager and the Manager of Ancillary Services.
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the President.
Directly supervises the Operations Managers and the Manager of Ancillary Services.
Oversees all Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and other support functions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Lead day-to-day operations across all gym locations.
Execute the strategic direction established by the President.
Align departmental objectives with organizational goals.
Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Leadership & Accountability
Coach and develop department managers.
Establish KPIs and hold leaders accountable.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability and exceptional member service.
Financial Management
Own consolidated operating performance and budget execution.
Review financial results and implement corrective actions.
Recommend annual budgets and capital plans to the President.
Operational Excellence
Ensure consistency of standards across all locations.
Oversee compliance, quality assurance and risk management.
Coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
Growth & Business Development
Support expansion and new location openings.
Identify efficiency and revenue improvement opportunities.
Decision Authority
Approve operational decisions within delegated authority.
Escalate strategic, capital and policy matters to the President.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
7–10 years of progressive multi-site leadership experience.
Strong P&L management, leadership and communication skills.
Interest in fitness and general knowledge the fitness industry preferred.
Working Conditions
Regular travel between locations is expected. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
