Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled painting and rust prevention of parts and equipment per drawing specifications.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, product guides, and material safety data sheets.
- Prepare surfaces for painting or repainting by pressure washing, sandblasting,
- Grinding and/or sanding to remove dirt and loose paint.
- Prepare work surfaces for painting by applying masking tape over surfaces that are not to be painted cut and apply stencils.
- Prepare, check viscosity, and mix the paints to match the specified color codes.
- Apply prime and finish paints and rust preventative materials to a variety of surfaces by stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, reclining, pushing, and pulling while carrying out painting tasks.
- Operate and maintain the tools and equipment used in industrial painting.
- Check shop humidity and temperature, compressed air quality, and maintain related records.
- Work for extended periods while wearing a respirator mask in confined spaces.
- Follow OHSA and company regulations and internal work instructions.
Required Knowledge:
- Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the industrial painting trade.
- Applicable safety standards and fire prevention methods.
- Methods and practices of cleaning and maintaining painting equipment and supplies.
- Hazardous waste disposal methods.
Required Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in painting of products, components, sub-assemblies as per drawing specifications and preparation of products and sub-assemblies for painting operations.
- Hands-on experience with sand blasters, sanders, airless painters and electrostatic sprayers, paint thickness measurement gages and mixing devices.
- Knowledge of aerospace specification is an advantage.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
