Development Manager, Patron Programs and Events
Reports to: Director of Development
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager, Patron Programs & Events is responsible for coordinating and delivering the Foundation's annual program of cultivation, stewardship and engagement initiatives, including Gala etcetera, Patron Programs and other signature engagement activities that support the Foundation's fundraising priorities.
Working collaboratively across the Foundation and the National Gallery of Canada, the incumbent plans, coordinates and delivers exceptional patron experiences, cultivation initiatives and stewardship activities that advance the Foundation's fundraising priorities in support of Foundation leadership. The role is designed to support a collaborative, cross-functional development team, with responsibilities evolving over time in response to organizational priorities and operational needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Patron Program & Events
- Coordinate and deliver the Foundation's annual program of cultivation, stewardship and engagement initiatives, including Gala etcetera, Patron Programs and other signature Foundation engagement activities.
- Develop annual event plans, themes, timelines, budgets, guest lists, invitations and implementation plans.
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of Patron Program experiences, travel programs and stewardship initiatives, ensuring an exceptional participant experience.
- Prepare executive-quality briefing materials, presentations, proposals and other materials in support of Foundation leadership and donor engagement activities.
- Coordinate the operational delivery of donor engagement activities in collaboration with Foundation leadership, ensuring exceptional participant experiences before, during and following events.
- Manage project budgets, timelines and deliverables while ensuring successful execution of assigned initiatives.
- Negotiate with vendors, venues and service providers.
- Prepare post-event evaluations and stewardship reports highlighting outcomes, learnings and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with Gallery colleagues to plan and deliver joint initiatives aligned with institutional priorities.
- Provide cross-functional support across Foundation patron programs, cultivation initiatives and stewardship activities in response to operational priorities.
- Participate in annual planning, quarterly reviews, monthly reporting and cross-functional planning across Foundation engagement initiatives.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate donor engagement records, event information and reporting within Raiser's Edge and other Foundation systems.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, briefing materials and documentation supporting Foundation planning and decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, marketing, event management, business administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, event management, project management or a related environment.
- Experience coordinating complex events, patron programs or stakeholder initiatives within a charitable, cultural or philanthropic environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and adapt to changing operational priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-quality correspondence, briefing materials, presentations and other professional documents.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems, preferably Raiser's Edge.
- Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment and ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.

Annual performance will be evaluated against:
- Successful delivery of assigned cultivation, stewardship and engagement initiatives.
- Achievement of project milestones and timelines.
- Positive patron, donor and participant experience.
- Quality of briefing materials and project documentation.
- Effective stewardship follow-up, reporting and implementation of continuous improvements.
- Collaboration across Foundation and Gallery teams.
- Accurate CRM management and reporting.
- Contribution to cross-functional collaboration and organizational resilience through support across Foundation development initiatives.
What We Will Provide
· A competitive salary between $72,900 to $ 81,000 per year

Working Conditions
· This is a Permanent, Full-Time position commencing as soon as possible
· The Foundation currently operates three days per week in the office and two days per week from home.
· The incumbent is required to live and work in Ottawa, Canada
· Available to work Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours a week anytime between 8:00am to 5pm. Schedules may change based on operational/event needs
