ULS has an exciting and immediate opportunity for a hands-on and experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in Calgary. This position will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and providing repairs to maintenance, construction and snow and ice management equipment, making repairs to trucks and trailers and responsible for repairing, tracking and maintaining truck, trailer and equipment, with the main focus on small and large commercial mowing equipment.

Main Responsibilities
- Demonstrate high safety standards and safe work practices
- Responsible for ensuring truck and trailer along with equipment fleet is repaired and in guidelines of legislation
- Working with Supply Chain to ensure consumables are in stock
- Maintaining work orders (Triage job opportunities)
- Work on small and large commercial mowing equipment
- Assisting in the management of repairs
- Assisting in tracking of the vehicle and equipment fleet
- Ensuring safety and cleanliness of shop
- Complete safety training as required
- Install replacement part
- Required to document all repairs on ULS systems
Conditions and Characteristics
- Work schedule of 8 hour days, 5 days per week (Mon-Fri)
- Working within both indoor and outdoor work environments; ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, dusty and noisy work environments
- Mechanical aptitude
- Considerable standing, walking, squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping, lifting and reaching
- Some climbing, sitting and driving
- Manual and finger dexterity as well as eye-hand and foot coordination
- Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 80lbs
Basic & Required Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal ticket/certificate
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience
- Valid Class 3/5 Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract will be required for verification upon hire) with ‘Q’ Air Endorsement
- Can supply own tools
- Ability to read and comprehend work orders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with computer maintenance programs
- Hydraulic experience
- Diesel engine diagnostic experience
