About the role
We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our growing Earthworks team. In this role, you'll lead the estimating process from initial takeoffs through bid submission, helping secure profitable work while supporting successful project execution. Working closely with operations, project management, clients, and trade partners, you'll develop accurate estimates, manage project budgets, identify new opportunities, and help drive continuous improvement across the division. What you'll do
ESTIMATING:

Lead the estimating process including takeoffs, pricing, vendor coordination, and bid submissions

Manage and track quote performance, including conversion rates, profitability, and award analysis

Identify and pursue new project opportunities through tenders, client relationships, and market awareness

Collaborate with leadership to determine project selection, pricing strategies, and vendor partnerships

Working with the Earthworks Divisional Manager to establish and maintain pricing matrix for estimating sheets

Receive and review invitations to tender, review posting boards (i.e.: VRCA, BCBid, etc.), maintain client contacts, visit sites of interest
OPERATIONS AND LEADERSHIP:

Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and tracking systems

Support scheduling, workload planning, and resource allocation

Supporting the Estimating team with Landscape and Concrete scopes of work where needed

Build and maintain strong client, vendor, and subcontractor relationships

Contribute to team development, performance goals, and a positive work environment

Actively participate in Pre-Award Meetings

Actively participate in Divisional Crossover
Qualifications

Post-secondary education with a focus on Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying with a Civil focus or equivalent

Industry and position experience equivalent accepted on an individual basis

3–5+ years of civil estimating experience (earthworks, excavation, utilities preferred)

Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

Experience with estimating and project management software (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Project)

Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and building positive working relationships.

Proficient with computers and scheduling software, with the ability to maintain accurate project documentation and records.

Solid understanding of budgeting, job costing, cost estimating, and financial reporting principles.

Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents to support successful project delivery.
