Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, applying, and inspecting powder coatings on various metal components. This role requires mechanical aptitude, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and the ability to operate various tools and equipment. The Powder Coating Technician plays a vital part in ensuring high-quality finishes and efficient production flow within our facility.
Responsibilities
- Prepare parts for coating by cleaning, masking, and surface preparation to ensure optimal adhesion.
- Operate powder coating equipment, including spray booths and curing ovens, following safety and quality standards.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and machining tools to assemble or modify parts as needed.
- Monitor coating application for consistency, coverage, and quality; perform touch-ups or rework as necessary.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections, cleaning, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Assist in loading and unloading parts using cranes or forklifts when necessary, adhering to safety protocols.
- Document production activities accurately and report any issues or deviations from specifications.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste throughout the coating process.
Experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial settings preferred.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, machining, welding, and assembly processes highly desirable.
- Familiarity with use of hand tools and power tools.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thickness and part dimensions.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and continuous improvement within the production environment.
- Previous experience with powder coating processes is a plus but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates committed to learning new skills.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
