Working under the supervision of a Registered Healthcare Professional, Overnight UCPs are considered charge staff. They are charged with following residents’ care plans, administering medications, and observing and reporting any substantial findings or clinical changes in residents' behavior to the appropriate member of the team. Attending to emergency call bells and leadership in emergency response plan.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- In-charge overnight/mornings/evenings as team lead.
- Take a leadership role in administering the emergency plan if required.
- Following each individual resident’s care plans
- Administer medication as prescribed
- Maintaining a clean, safe environment for all residents, in particular those utilizing infection control protocols
- Preserving required residents’ records and documentation, in accordance with policies and procedures
- Assisting with meals, laundry, and housekeeping
- Attend to emergency call bells and support resident needs as required.
- Lending help with residents’ personal care, such as toileting, bathing, and dressing as needed
- Provide meaningful engagement to all residents with empathy and compassion
- Demonstrate leadership skills by leading by example with others
- Other duties are requested
Qualifications:
- Training for medication certification and previous experience with administering meds is preferred.
- Experience in working with seniors in a retirement or long-term care facility is also preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively (in English), with residents, their families, and other staff
- Vulnerable sector check is a must
- 2 Step Tb test report / Negative Chest X ray report is needed.
- UCP certification is a must.
- N95 mask fit test
- At least 2 doses of covid shots taken
