Job Title: Exploration Geologist
Location: Western Newfoundland
SGM Consulting is seeking two experienced Exploration Geologists on behalf of our client for an upcoming field program in Western Newfoundland. These positions are ideal for geoscientists who excel in remote exploration environments and are ready to support an active drilling campaign on a fly‑in/fly‑out rotation.
Position Details
- Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Daily Hours: 10-hour workdays while on site
- Travel: Meet in Pasadena, NL, followed by a 30‑minute aerial transfer to camp
- Accommodations: Full-service camp facilities provided
- Contract Term: 6 months, with potential extension

Key Responsibilities
- Drill Oversight — Supervise daily drilling operations to ensure safe, efficient, and technically sound execution.
- Core Logging — Log drill core to company standards, documenting lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization.
- Sample Management — Manage sampling workflows, QA/QC procedures, and sample shipments.
- Data & Reporting — Maintain accurate geological records and digital databases; prepare daily and weekly reports.
- Cost Tracking — Monitor drilling-related costs and support budget adherence.
- Contractor Coordination — Communicate with drill crews, helicopter operators, and support teams.
- Safety Leadership — Uphold all safety, environmental, and operational protocols.
- Team Collaboration — Work closely with the Exploration Manager and technical team.
Required Qualifications
- 3–10 years of progressive mineral exploration experience, ideally in structurally complex terrains
- Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline
- Strong background in drill program execution, core logging, and sampling workflows
- Experience with geological data systems; acQuire considered an asset
- Orogenic gold experience is a strong advantage
- Ability to work safely and effectively in remote field settings
- Leapfrog experience considered an asset
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
- Must be available to start July 2026
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all site access requirements
