Duties
- Dispense prescription medications accurately while adhering to all legal and safety regulations
- Offer expert advice on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions to patients and healthcare providers
- Collaborate with medical teams to develop and review patient care plans, especially in hospital or acute care settings
- Monitor patient responses to medications, adjusting dosages or therapies as needed for optimal outcomes
- Maintain detailed records of medication administration, patient interactions, and inventory management
- Educate patients on proper medication storage, administration techniques, and health maintenance strategies
- Stay current with medical terminology updates, pharmaceutical innovations, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
Requirements
- Valid license as a Registered Pharmacist in the relevant jurisdiction of Ontario
- Proven experience working in hospital or acute care environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration protocols
- Experience with pediatric medication management is highly desirable
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced clinical settings while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems (Kroll) and inventory control processes
